My OTJ's Experience
In partial fulfillment for the requirements to pass my IT course, we were required to undergo an ON THE JOB TRAINING for 200 hours. Five of us were assigned to be fortunately trained at OWWA ( OVERSEAS WORKERS WELFARE ASSOCIATION). The said OJT started Nov. 20, 2009 and is expected to finish upon the completion of the 200 hour requirement. But just like a soldier who does not charge to a battle without a gear, our professor who works on the same establishment first geared us through an orientation on what to do inside the office and how to account our time.
I was so excited at the first day of my OJT. Although I was a bit nervous still my enthusiasm and excitement surpassed my slight ususal worries of a neophyte. Upon reaching the office on the first day of my OJt, we were warmly welcomed by everyone there. I was first assigned at the first floor where applications and payments are received and was asked to do basic office works such as fixing and arranging brochures, organizing and keeping files, data encoding and a lot more. I also helped in decorating the office with Christmas ornaments and helped at any work where i was needed. I was also assigned at the TULAY TRAINING CENTER, which is located at the second floor of the building- a software training center for the OFWs and their relatives. There I enjoyed helping and assisting the trainees on technical matters regarding the use of computer such as blog-making, surfing at the internet, word, excel, power point, YM, facebook and other computer-related technicalities.
I just keep on transferring from the first floor to the second floor depending on the instructions given to me where I needed to give my service.
